Councils are working closely with Mark Group to substantially increase the number of well insulated homes in the area by offering a range of grants and discounts for loft and cavity wall insulation to owner occupied and privately rented properties. Having your home properly insulated will conserve energy and will save you money on your heating bills (this can be as much as 60*) and it will benefit the environment. The grant funding is allocated on a first come, first served basis; however, with energy prices rising and more extreme weather predicted for the whole of the UK, demand is set to be high. Even if you already have some insulation it may not be sufficient as the recommended building standards for loft insulation is now 270mm (over 10 inches!)
