Stuart Francis and Peter Fitzmaurice died when the light aircraft crashed at Tangley near Andover at around 12.40pm on Sunday September 20. The single-engined, fixed- wing plane got into difficulties soon after taking off from near Whitchurch. REPORT by Simon Moss The plane was believed to be travelling in the direction of the West Country. The family of 60-year-old Stuart said in a statement: Stuart has been passionate about flying since childhood. He gained his private pilots licence in 1991 and was an experienced and meticulous pilot. Councillors vote against Sweep away the risk raising their allowances of a winter tragedy COUNTY councillors have voted against an increase in their allowances despite a rec- ommendation from an outside body. Hampshire councils cabinet unanimously voted against the rise at a meeting last month. The Independent Remuneration Body had suggested an increase of more than 4,000 a year, bringing a members allowances to 20,817.
