Our customers informed us that: hey want to buy one RHEL T subscription and have the ability to deploy it on a bare metal server or in a virtual machine that is running on any of the most commonly available commercial-grade hypervisors. They also requested the price of running a RHEL guest to be the same across all the hypervisors we support. ou can now experience virtualisation- Y friendly pricing Introduction of the JBoss Managed option, making it easier for customers to adopt management capabilities single package that provides support A for many different deployment and support models Development use of JBoss software for the entire JBoss Enterprise Middleware Portfolio is included with every JBoss subscription, making it easier for customers to become familiar with other products within the portfolio. Q: How do you think the new model will help resellers with sales? A: The new pricing model is much simpler. This makes it much easier to sell Red Hat, which enables resellers to shorten their sales cycles and convince more clients to use our products. In terms of the product, customers are realising RHEL6 is already a winner, delivering dramatic improvements in reliability, performance, scalability and virtualization integration. RHEL6 demonstrates again the wisdom of making Red Hat Enterprise Linux the strategic operating system platform for long-term ITdeployments. Q: Could you give us a brief overview of whats new in RHEL6? A: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 has a number of new improvements which further enhance product development in areas such as virtualization and cloud. To begin with, currently RHEL6 has theoretical limits of 4096 CPUS/64TB RAM on x86_64 architecture. In other words, RHEL6 is ready today for the next generation of hardware. There have also been a huge number of NUMA-related improvements in order to fully unlock performance, as well as the scalability potential of the latest generation of x86_64 processors. An additional security mechanism, SVirt technology, has been made available on RHEL6 to better isolate virtual guests from each other. Control Groups technology can also enforce SLA to the applications and virtual guests to ensure that mission- critical workloads always have enough access to the computing resources. In terms of green IT, RHEL6 is following in the footsteps of RHEL5.5, which reduced power consumption by 20 and received a Green OS award. RHEL6 has further reduced power consumption by another 20 with different power management policies. For Red Hat, this is the most exciting version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and this version sets the new standard for open source. Q: Could you explain the changes you have made to the pricing model?
